So funny. I got a 88 50 hp force. I got it for cheap and it has excellent compression. I fixed it up and it runs well. Shakes like a bastard though. Real good motor if you are just getting started in boating for cheap, can find a decent one, and want to learn how to work on outboards becuase they are dirt simple and you will be working on it. I'm enjoying it for what it is and I'll take care of it but boy will i be excited to slap a better motor on it and i will appreciate it.

Spot on Andy not sure that the beeps made a difference to get your point across but it seems to be the nature of today. The industry is replacing older workers with younger workers that have not been trained and they have all the answers with no experience. No craftsmanship in today’s workforce.

445 hours on my 1996 Force 75hp. Refuse to get rid of because of its reliability. Some Force might be junk. Not all Force are junk. Just like every other industry, there are bad years for companies.

They made bad business decision for far too long. Over priced motors in a Yamaha market. Big over powered combinations in a trolling motor market. If they had focused on thier local markets and fishing community. They would have dominated in land waters while Yamaha controlled the cost.

It’s happened in my area already. My banks loan officer told me at the height of COVID, she had written more RV and boat loans in that year than she had in the previous five. It showed at campgrounds and lakes around here, and on Erie. I’m now seeing RV’s and boats for sale that are a few years old. The peak is over. I don’t feel it’s a bad thing either.

A manufacture will not get the quality up just because they sell less. The quality will get better if they buy better core products. The employees don't care and the manufacture will continue to make dealers take minimum line products to sell there products. I think the products will still remain the same they will not get better especially when companies have to make investors happy and a loosing profit margin will not make a companies investors happy so they CEO will continue to cut corners and it will still be same quality at a lesser price. IMO.

So that would be less than 1% of their workforce. I would expect that these numbers will increase even more.

They are closing down the shipping side in Fond du lac. Since they have Indianapolis complete open now. Talked to my sales rep and that is what is going on.

What goes up..........must come down. The average working man can't just go stroke a check for 120K for a bass boat........nutz. I think this is why there are more aluminum boat options, and the glass rigs are offering better "package" pricing. I hear Phoenix is making the 721 ZXL model with a wider front deck, 2 - 12" graphs, trolling motor, and power poles for around $76K, dealer prep not included. That is a great deal.

Deep sea fishing is slowly dying. I remember seeing bus after bus going to fish up north(cape cod). Now it’s five guys and van. These boats are still overpriced even at 80k and industry understands that. Everyone is trying to get rich, slip fees, electronics, engine services, hull maintenance for manufacturing defects, fuel, paint, accessories

If Suzuki could and the other brands could just make an outboard attractive their sales would double! That’s half the reason people choose mercury. They look so much better in the back. In all sizes

Andy, I work at a Merc plant and can tell you that getting back to the core quality employees is probably a good thing. I cant give specifics, but there are still more people there now than prior to covid so this isnt a giant loss by anymeans.
